I’m Michael Bustin – founder of Material AF™ and creator of the AF Audit Engine™, an independent specification performance diagnostic system for architectural material brands.
 

For more than 25 years I’ve worked inside the built environment helping material manufacturers strengthen credibility, improve specification performance, and build brand experiences that designers trust.
 

I grew up around machines, fabrication, and making ideas real. Materials were never theoretical. They were forged, cut, tested, and installed. That operational mindset shaped how I evaluate brands today, through signal strength, performance clarity, and real-world experience impact.
 

Throughout my career I’ve helped develop high-performance and sustainable materials, scale global brands, and build manufacturing businesses acquired by industry leaders.
 

I don’t operate in theory. I work where materials are specified, detailed, and built.
 

Through Material AF™, I diagnose material brand signal performance, identify trust gaps, and lead experience rebuild programs that strengthen market perception and specification conversion.

My work focuses on the moments that influence real decisions, e.g., sample kit architecture, packaging systems, credibility signals, narrative clarity, and the operational structure behind brand delivery.
